The cake for the First Communion of Christian well 20 days have passed since my last step for the blog ... I have a little hiding 'due to various commitments, including my internship, but mostly because I could not spend one Sunday in May in the house! The reason?? Not one, not two, but three First Communion (of which two away, in Bari and Finale Ligure!).
But now here I am, finally ready to resume the work of the blog: D!
Home in the best way to do it with this post entirely dedicated to a small masterpiece created by my mom has always been passionate about cooking and confectionery and for some years now, become the "official pastry of friends and relatives who need a loud voice, her cakes to celebrate birthdays, communions, wedding anniversaries and so on and so forth!
the weekend of May 10 to 11 we spent in Bari to celebrate the First Communion of my cousin Christian! It 'was a wonderful weekend in the birthplace of my family, where I could embrace grandparents, uncles and cousins \u200b\u200bthat unfortunately I can only see a couple of times a year.
On this occasion, my mother made this cake as beautiful as it is complex, shaped like a book, extraordinarily good: P, formed by a series of mouth-watering layers: pastry, chocolate pastry cream, sponge cake, lemon custard , another layer of sponge cake, all covered by decorative cream and wafers with a phrase of good wishes for the little Chris!
Yeah, you just have to admit, this time he has done it again, leaving everyone shocked:)
Here's a detail of the cake:
Unfortunately I could not photograph the piece because I could not wait to taste it: D!
And after the completion of the pie, companies cuclinarie continue, here is the mother struggling with orecchiette ... Walking through the old town we came across one of the stalls exhibiting typical local products on the feast of St. Nicholas, one of the many goodness could not miss the orecchiette, hand-made from most patient man willing to give lessons to passersby.
... but here we still have some work 'to achieve absolute perfection:)
And now some photos of the delicacies that we enjoyed at lunch: D
Mozzarella cheese, fried peppers, focaccia Puglia
Grilled eggplant, seafood salad, sweet pepper gratin
Beets seasoned with olive oil, garlic and parsley, salt rice cake, zucchini poverella
Cavatelli with clams and cicerchie
A glimpse of the old town of Bari
